Sharing Ashland, Halloween

Happy Halloween Kstylers, Hope you're having some wicked fun tonight.
The parade here in Ashland, Oregon just finished up and I was front and center clicking away. And as usual the extroverts and exhibitionists did not disappoint. But for me it's all about the dogs and the babies. Here are some of my favorites from the literally hundreds of photo ops in pretty much every direction. enjoy, k
Oh and that's my photo journalist son in the last pic. He was shooting the parade today for the Tribune so stay tuned for some of his pics later. k

Exploring Etsy, Craftymum

Check out this cute Etsy shop called craftymum. Some very cute Halloween decorations and jewelry here as well as lots of other fun things. I love this skeleton doll. It reminds me of the Day of the Dead decorations that were so common when we lived in Mexico. very creative, k

Gumps Of Course

No doubt I should have posted this Halloween card from Gumps sooner. Halloween just sort of crept on me this year. Too much water polo on the brain. Speaking of which will be heading out again Thursday for our final tournament. Am sooooo ready! k

It's a Dog Thing

Today

We had one of those amazing Fall but feels like summer days today so R and I just cancelled our commitments and headed for the mountains a mere 30 minutes away. We spent the day in view of glorious Mt Mclaughlin now covered in snow. It's just a matter of days before we will head into serious winter here so we knew we had to SEIZE this day. And yep we caught those trout you see there for dinner and this time R outfished me but at Fish lake I'm definitely the clear out winner for the season. am so lucky to live here, k

Found It at Etsy, Sugarloop

I've always been an owl lover so it's no surprise that I would love this print I found while browsing Etsy shop Sugarloop. There are tons of darling, affordable prints at this shop so plan on spending a few minutes here. k

R and I spent the day on the river today. It was absolutely gorgeous here in Oregon today so we grabbed lunch and head for the Rogue. Fall colors everywhere just like the image above. So love living in Oregon where such beauty is just a few minutes away. k

Knock Off Please

Trust me when I say I will never own the "original" version of this purse. But I have been known to go for the really exceptional knock off and trust me when I tell you if I found something resembling this gem by Roberta di Camerino while strolling the streets of Mexico it would definitely be mine. And yes, R and I are heading for Manzanillo in early December for a visit with oldest son. will be keeping my eyes open, k

The Photographer

Well it's been several months now and my photo journalist son has really been put to the test in his first job as one of three photographers for The Mail Tribune here in southern Oregon. He's had his first fire, a marijuana bust in the Oregon backcountry, a military funeral and just about everything else in between. The photos you see above are some of my favorites and thought you might enjoy. If you'd like to see more of J's photos go to the Mail Tribune website multi media page here where all three of the photographers keep galleries of their latest shoots. There are amazing shots here. k

Banner Inspiration, K style

Hey Kstylers,
I'm going through the change! Summer to Fall that is. It's been a stormy, windy, dark and stay in the house cozy day here in Ashland, Oregon so I decided to get cozy with photoshop and have some design fun. If you haven't discovered the myriad of free photoshop brushes available to the design community be sure to check it out. Just google "free photoshop brushes" and you are good to go. And for color palettes just find something you love and then use the color sampler tool to grab your colors like I did with the gorgeous lamps from artists Michael Lamar and Gibb Brownlie. But beware, photoshop is very addicting and I could easily waste away days drowning in design possibilities. hope you like my new Fall look, k

Creepy Crawly Treats

I have to admit that even though I have been soooo reluctant to let go of summer this year I am finally starting to get into the fall and even Halloween mode. And I almost want to have a Halloween party just so I can make these creepy crawly cakes I found while poking around favorite blog not martha. And if for some reason you haven't checked out this blog go now. it's a sure thing, k

Stylin With Scarves, Mackintosh

Every year I knit a water polo scarf. And trust me when I tell you we log enough I-5 corridor miles to knit miles of scarves every season. But I am usually only good for one. Unfortunately however, mine look nothing like the fabulous scarves from the talented fiber artist Sonya Mackintosh. not even close, k

Just Around the Corner

I've always loved topiaries but these "Halloween" varieties are such a fun and clever variation of your standard topiary fare that I want to rush out and buy one RIGHT NOW. And I should because Halloween is just around the corner. Check out these and more at Smith and Hawken. Spooky but NOT, k
Off to another water polo tournament. Here's hoping waterboy stays out of the emergency room this time. k

Passionate About Lampwork, Moertel

I am in awe of Melanie Moertel's work. Not only is it technically brilliant but it is also NEW. A fresh take on what can seem repetitive and cliched to those of us who have been lampworking for awhile. I absolutely love it when I come across an artist who literally takes my breath away. And by the way, these beads are currently for sale on Ebay. and you can go here to enter the bidding war, k

It's A Coin Purse Thing

Well by now you know I have a major addiction to coin purses so it's no surprise that I would find these cuties by Jaime Beattie irresistible. Found these via favorite blog Bloesem. Now if I could only win more often at mahjong and poker I just might have a reason to buy more coin purses. k

Handcrafted Excellence, Abbott and Ellwood

Thank you to everyone who expressed concern and good wishes for "waterboy". I am happy to report that he is doing great today and seems to have made a full recovery. Wish I could be as resilient as he. Will take me at least a few days to get over the emotional trauma.
But on to design. I love love this whimsical line of jewelry by UK artists Abbott and Ellwood. Of course you know I would love the simple graphic elements but it is the whimsy and playfulness that clearly shouts out to me. Be sure to spend a few moments exploring their gallery of designs. So much creativity there. enjoy, k
