Inspired By Nature, Etsy

A big wow for this gorgeous line by artist Holly Strate. And her Etsy shop Hollyhawk is chock full of more fabulous pieces just like these. I am in total lust over each and every one of the above pieces and I don't dare spend too much time in her shop. But if I were you I'd head over soon because that purse in the first photo is going, going ........... k

it's a Dog Thing

Weekend Fun With K

If you've been following Kstyle you probably know by now that one of my best buddies darling twin daughter S is getting married on 7/07/0007 this summer which by the way may go down as one of the most popular wedding dates ever. My friends and I have been planning a shower for weeks and believe me we threw it in style on Saturday. Here are a few pics from this epic event which was absolute beauty and style from the gorgeous bride to be and her equally gorgeous twin sister to the decor, beautifully catered brunch and fabulous home of my friend V. I'm hoping to have a private photo op of this home down the road for Kstyle. Needless to say it was a perfect backdrop to a fantastic party. to be continued on 7/07/0007 k

Porcelain Garden, Alice Riehl

Thank you to favorite blog heegeldab for making me aware of this fabulous ceramic line called "porcelain garden". Artist Alice Riehl has so beautifully blended the arts of lace and crochet with porcelain that it's hard to know where one starts and the other ends. Check out this amazing site and learn more about her very unique process. these are just so gorgeous. k

Hot Rocks, Ashley Jewelry

You know I love anything inspired by nature here on Kstyle but "made" by nature is even better. And again another amazing Etsy find and again very affordable. Check out the rings and lots of other "pebble" jewelry at Ashley Jewelry right HERE. Absolsutely gorgeous, k

Lovivng Cho Cho Designs

By now most of you know that I am a total sucker for change purses and that we sort of have an ongoing contest in my mahjong group as to who has the BEST one. I'm pretty sure one of these little guys by textile design company Cho Cho would win first prize. I absolutely love this whole line. The Cho Cho aesthetic has k written all over it. will definitely own one of these someday. k

Exploring Etsy, Stonehouse Designs

It never ceases to amaze me what is going on over at Etsy. What a fabulous venue for the creative and a terrific source for us consumers. Check out this shop called Stonehouse Designs. Mostly polymer clay and sterling silver it's fun, hip and ultra affordable. love the graphic styling. k
k
Am still tweaking the site but hopefully will get it right soon. If I left anyone out on my blogroll I assure you it was an oversight so please email me or leave a comment and let ne know. Also if you find any dead links please let me know. I have been working late hours and I'm sure I have made mistakes. My job would have been a lot easier if Blogger had a 3 column template but with my new computer and widescreen just had to fill up what looked like so much dead space. Will be fun to play with new features and ideas as Kstyle continues to grow. And I might even get some time to do some lampworking now that this project is complete, well getting there anyway. k

Handcrafted Excellence, Nina Falk

I saw a lot of fused glass in Las Vegas but nothing remotely like the work of artist Nina Falk. The colors and designs are so gorgeous and make me want to totally redesign my house. Maybe I could just settle for one of the necklaces. k

Drinking Your Way to Success

This amazing line of jewelry by artist and designer Kathleen Plate was really the stand out line I saw at the contemporary art show I recently attended in Las vegas. It meets all my citeria for great design and with a "twist". If you look closely at the gorgeous glass colors of the simple, clean, edited circles which make up the necklace designs you will recognize the colors. They would be beer bottle brown, wine bottle green and finally coco cola bottle wintergreen. So go out, buy some beer, drink a few bottles of wine, throw in a few cokes and then instead of throwing away the evidence of your latest binge turn it into a fabulous inovative line of eco friendly jewelry. Now why didn't I think of that. cleeeever, k

Oh and I hope you like Kstyle's new look. Am in the process of adding all the links back in one at a time and as you know I had a lot. Am dividing by country so if I put you in the wrong place please let me know. I should have everyone back in a few days so if I left anyone out please holler. enjoy, k

Turquoise Time is Here!

I don't know about you but right about now I start to get a craving for turquoise. Something about it just screams spring and summer are on their way. I used to wear it all the time when I lived in Mexico but here in Ashland it's pretty much a summer thing. I love these pieces by
artist Turza from Artwares. And there's all sorts of amazing jewelry here but get out your paypal card. k

Threesome From Graham and Green

Well it's a dog thing, a bird thing and a plate thing all wrapped up in one. And you can find this threesome at Graham and Green. Plan on spending a few minutes on this site. Some great browsing and shopping here. k

Playing Hookie!

Just got home from a fabulous performance of the Lippizaner Stallions and spent all day working on revamped blog which I hope will be launching this weekend.

Kstyle will be in transition for the next week as I move over to 3 column layout with New Look and expanded features so NOT to worry. Will get everyone's links and widgets back but will be a process. I am doing this all myself so be patient if my skills lag a bit behind my overall vision. k

New From Alessi

Love love these new salt and pepper mills that you can find at Retromodern. Thought I'd post them in the hope that maybe R is checking out my blog. Perfect Mother's Day gift. Somehow however I think it's a safe bet that these will not be gracing my table anytime soon. Maybe the chocolates below??? k

Mother's Day, Chocolates are Good

I don't know about you but I'm always up for some fabulous chocolates for Mother's day. Not that I probably wouldn't prefer something more "personal" but hey if chosen by one of my guys I might just be better off with the chocolates. especially some that looked like these, k

B. Eloise, Purse-n-ality

B. Eloise was one of the "emerging artists" represented at the show in Las Vegas and I thought her work was really fun. A bit hard to see in the photographs but her handles were very unique. Some made out of vinyl with various creative "thingys" inside. She's just getting started but check out her google page above. lots of fun bags to look at. k

A Great Cause, Paint Vases???

As most of you know by now my son the photo journalism major is filming a documentary on Equamore a fabulous horse rescue organization here in Ashland. They are currently supporting over 50 abandoned or abused horses like the mom in the pic above who recently gave birth to a beautiful healthy colt. They are having their big fundraiser in August and my best friend C is donating all of the "blank" pottery vases she can get her hands on for the big auction.

What she needs are some "artistic" types to paint the vases in any sort of fun motifs (not necessarily horses) with pottery glazes and then she will have them fired.

So my blogging arty friends. If any of you would like to paint a vase for Equamore I will pay for shipping to and back and then I will FEATURE your finished vase right here on Kstyle. So let me know if anyone's in and I will start sending vases. k

Make a Statment, Singerman and Post

Singerman and Post was one of the standout lines that I saw in Las Vegas and well I have to say it really fits not only my aesthetic but my budget as well. The process is original and a bit complicated but you can go here to get a first hand explanation of how this gorgeous jewelry is made. Bottom line, the design element is fabulous. stunning, k

It's A Dog Thing, 5.5 Design

Somehow I missed this darling item from 5.5 Designers which I posted on a while back. Such a clever idea. And the variations are endless. The whole place setting can screw into just about anything. I love the fruit "handles". k

R and I had a great albeit marathon trip to Las Vegas. Wow what a blitz of total stimuli coming from every direction. We saw Celine Dion, fabulous, and the Phantom of the Opera, also fabulous walked miles at the Contemporary Art Show and ran all over the strip via the monorail in 3 days. So needless to say am still unpacking and unwinding and will be back with Kstyle full force in the coming days.

Also I am going to be revamping Kstyle into a three column format which will take a bit of time and may cause some visual issues as I work on it so know that in the end I hope it will add more space and "real estate" for all the great design that is going on just about everywhere. Will keep you posted on this process as I start to make the transition. Glad to be home in beautiful Oregon. k
